JUDI DONOVAN,
VICE PRESIDENT OF STARTUP OPERATIONS

Judi’s strong operational experience in leading teams with a focus on delivering exceptional hospitality and customer service all started in the airline business. At the start of a very successful and rewarding career, Judi worked the midnight shift cleaning airplanes. In this fast-paced work environment various opportunities were available, and Judi quickly moved to a supervisor role and transitioned to a customer serve manager position within a few years. It was in these early years that Judi realized that an airport is a highly emotional setting and very relational with the customers. “Yes, we were moving people from point A to point B, however there are business transactions being made, some deals being lost, folks heading to joyous occasions as well as those traveling to say their final goodbyes to loved ones. Each interaction is unique”.

The culmination of her career was having the privilege to serve as part of an outstanding operational transition team for the new airport terminal in Detroit, Michigan completed in 2003. Here, Judi learned how to read a set of blueprints, gained knowledge on low voltage and access control systems along with a variety of other construction related projects. This was a sunset position, so when the airport opened it afforded her the opportunity to make a leap from the airline business into the senior housing arena and she never looked back.

Judi joined Erickson Living as part of the opening team of Fox Run a full CCRC located in Novi, Michigan. She served as the director of operations and eventually moved into a regional director role supporting the new developing communities. Judi’s Mom and Aunt lived at Fox Run and being able to experience the difference we make in the lives of others on a daily basis from both a personal and professional viewpoint is rewarding.

With the down turn in the economy in 2010, Judi transitioned from Erickson Living to an Executive Director role for Friendship Senior Options, a highly regarded organization in the Chicagoland area. Judi created an amazing culture of fellowship for the residents and built a strong team with the launch of Greenfields of Geneva from the ground up. “Coming to work each day in our resident’s home is a privilege”.

With a passion for new community start-ups Judi has served most recently as the Vice President of Operational Transition for a premier development and management company where she was instrumental in the launch of 15 communities. “Taking a building from construction to a place where people call home is a wonderful experience”.

At Watercrest, as the Vice President of Startup Operations, Judi works collaboratively with the construction and operation teams to ensure a smooth transition when the community opens. Creating a culture of service delivery with a hospitality focus to ensure resident needs are met is at the core of the Watercrest mission. It’s working together as a team to create a loving and safe place to call home.

Judi holds a Bachelors of Science in Business and a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in Health Care. She is a member of Argentum, Leading Age and Sage.

Judi and her husband Tom have escaped the cold winters of Chicago and reside in Asheville, North Carolina. They enjoy hiking, kayaking, gardening and exploring the various small towns in the Western North Carolina region. Judi is an avid golfer and equally enjoys a quiet afternoon enjoying a good book. Judi and Tom enjoy traveling, which often includes quick trips back to Michigan and Illinois to visit family and friends.
